How Tauranga City Council Made Pure Water Accessible To All

Mountain Fresh worked with Tauranga City Council to find innovative solutions that make safe and pure water accessible to both residents and visitors. Given the public spaces that they would be installed in, the fountains needed to withstand vandalism and environmental impacts.

The Council recently delivered a pump bike track at Arataki in Mount Maunganui that attracts hundreds of keen BMX bikers daily. The high-volume of visitors meant they needed a fountain that could be used by multiple people at once. The Mount Pirongia drinking fountain perfectly fit the brief as it features dual bubblers, vandal-resistant shrouds and also is self-draining given there was no external drainage in the area. Understanding the varying weather conditions that New Zealand can bring, the stainless steel construction provides a hard-wearing option that will withstand rain, hail and shine.

Another exciting project was delivering a fountain at the base of the beautiful Mount Maunganui. We know how busy the area can get with beach-goers and walkers. The fittingly-named Mount Maunganui drinking fountain was installed, providing pure water to drink and fill water bottles. Being a coastal area, the 304 stainless-steel construction is both robust and resilient against the environmental conditions, the tapware protected by vandal resistant shrouds.
