Ideas to make your kids drink more water
As an adult, we know the importance of drinking water to improve overall health but at times it’s challenging to convince the kids. We’ve compiled a list of tips to help improve water intake throughout childhood.
Six months and above
Once your baby is six months old you should give a few spoons of water daily. When they are drinking you can let them hold their sipper cups and enjoy their pure water
One to three years old
Children can meet their daily fluid needs by drinking plain water throughout the day but they can also get water by consuming other healthy drinks like milks and 100% fruit juice.
Five to eight years old
From years five to eight, a child should ideally be drinking around one litre of water a day.
Nine to twelve years old
Children should be taught about the importance of drinking water at this age and how it can improve overall health and wellbeing.
Thirteen years and above
Once your child is thirteen, they should be drinking 8-10 glasses of water per day. If your child likes juices, you can mix water with fresh juices to increase water intake. It might help to purchase a BPA-free drinking bottle that your child can take to school with them to encourage water consumption. You can purchase a reusable drinking bottle here.
