Cockle Bay School Upgrades Student Hydration with Help from ADA Funding

Cockle Bay School had long recognised the importance of keeping students hydrated throughout the school day. With ageing infrastructure and an increasing focus on sustainability, the school sought a modern, low-maintenance drinking solution that would encourage students to refill bottles instead of relying on single-use plastics.

Through Mountain Fresh’s partnership with the Australian Dental Association (ADA), Cockle Bay School was able to secure funding that significantly discounted the cost of their new fountain—making it possible to invest in a high-quality, long-term hydration solution that benefited both students and staff.

The Solution
After reviewing the range of options available, the school selected the Mount Hutt Freestanding Drinking Fountain—a robust, curved stainless-steel unit designed for durability, hygiene and ease of use.

Ideal for high-traffic environments like schools, the Mount Hutt model features a bottle-filling station and anti-vandal push-button tap, ensuring safe and reliable access to clean, filtered water. Its sleek design complements modern school grounds, while the stainless-steel finish resists corrosion and weathering, keeping maintenance simple year-round.

“The new fountain has been a great addition to our grounds. The students are using it constantly, and it’s reassuring to know they have access to clean, fresh water every day.”

The Process
Mountain Fresh guided the school through the ADA funding application, helping them meet eligibility criteria and streamline the approval process. Once approved, the Mountain Fresh team coordinated delivery and installation, ensuring minimal disruption to school operations.

The process was straightforward and fully supported—from initial consultation through to installation and after-sales follow-up—reflecting Mountain Fresh’s commitment to service and community partnerships.

The Result?
Since installation, the Mount Hutt fountain has become a popular hydration hub among students. Teachers have observed that students are drinking more water during the day, and the school has already noticed a reduction in single-use bottles being brought from home.

The ADA partnership not only made the project financially achievable but also reinforced Cockle Bay School’s commitment to health, sustainability and student wellbeing.

Looking Ahead
Following the success of this installation, Cockle Bay School plans to explore additional Mountain Fresh units to meet growing student demand across campus. The school continues to advocate for hydration and environmental awareness—values that perfectly align with Mountain Fresh’s mission to provide New Zealand schools with accessible, high-quality drinking water solutions.
