Given that the fountains would be installed in public spaces, durability was a key factor.
The Council recently completed a pump bike track at Arataki in Mount Maunganui, which attracts hundreds of BMX bikers daily. To accommodate the high volume of visitors, a robust fountain was needed. The Mount Pirongia drinking fountain was the perfect fit, featuring dual bubblers, vandal-resistant shrouds, and a self-draining design due to the lack of external drainage in the area. Its stainless steel construction ensures durability, capable of withstanding New Zealand's varying weather conditions.
Another exciting project involved installing a fountain at the base of the stunning Mount Maunganui. Recognising the area's popularity among beach-goers and walkers, the appropriately named Mount Maunganui drinking fountain was installed. This fountain provides pure drinking water and allows visitors to fill their water bottles. Constructed from 304 stainless steel, it is resilient against coastal environmental conditions, with tapware protected by vandal-resistant shrouds.
